James Francis Abney, 86, resident of Coeur d'Alene, passed away March 28, 2009, at Kootenai Medical Center. He was born Aug. 21, 1923, to Thomas and Elizabeth (Doren) Abney in North Bergen, N.J.

James entered the military in 1941 and retired as a Master Sergeant from the Air Force after 25 years in 1966. He lived in Boston, Mass., for five years and then moved to Burbank, Calif., in 1971 and started working for Warner Brothers.

James married Linda S. on Feb. 14, 1980, in Burbank, Calif. In 1985, he moved to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, to work security for The Coeur d'Alene Resort for 12 years; then completely retired.

James was a member of the California Odd Fellows and St. Thomas Church in Coeur d'Alene. James is survived by his wife Linda at home.

Graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 3, 2009, at St. Thomas Cemetery, Coeur d'Alene. ENGLISH FUNERAL CHAPEL, Coeur d'Alene, is in care of the arrangements.
