Eleanor M. Simmerly nee Hoerath of Bourbon, MO was born on Monday, June 10, 1918 in Beaufort, MO to Fritz Hoerath and Ida C. Hertlein Hoerath. She passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at the age of 92 years, 7 months, and 15 days.

Eleanor married Morris Simmerly on June 5, 1942 at the First United Methodist Church Parsonage at Bourbon, MO and to this union 3 daughters were born. Eleanor was employed as a clerk on August 1, 1936 and retired on July 1, 1983 from Paramount Apparel, Bourbon, MO. She was a weekly volunteer at the Christian Thrift Store at Bourbon, MO. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Bourbon, MO where she was active in the Women's Club. She also, was a member of the Rebekahs Lodge #319 and Stringtown Home Club. Her hobbies were gardening, sewing, cooking and especially known for her cinnamon rolls. She will be sadly missed by her family, friends and the community.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Morris; daughter Connie Kell; and brother Herman Hoerath.

She is survived by her daughters Bonnie (Gary) Peterson of Bourbon, MO and Kathy (Barry) West of Leasburg, MO; son-in-law Rev. David Kell and daughter-in-law Rev. Barbara Kell of Lansing, IL; grandchildren Christopher (Kim) Peterson and Sarah (Jeff) Lappe all of Bourbon, MO, Alison (Ken) Elliott of Sparta, WI, Grant West of St. Peters, MO, Vanessa Kell of Lyons, IL and Kevin Kell of Portland, OR; 5 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Visitation was Thursday, January 27, 2011 from 5-8:00PM at First United Methodist Church, Bourbon, MO. Funeral Service was 11:00AM Friday, January 28, 2011 at First United Methodist Church, Bourbon, MO with Pastor Judy Jeffery officiating. Burial at Bourbon Cemetery, Bourbon, MO.

Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church of Bourbon, MO.
