Barbara Elizabeth Stroup was the daughter of Ephraim and Nancy Stroup, also buried in Bethlehem cemetery, from Lincoln Co., NC. She came with her family to NE Mississippi in 1850 or 1851.
She married E.C. "Tim" Kidd in Tippah Co., MS on Jan. 1, 1869, and bore him 12 children, 10 of whom survived to adulthood.
After her husband died at a fairly young age, she ran a small store in the front yard of their property, selling staples.

She had gone to Memphis for a visit with her son, S.E. Kidd and his wife, where she fell, breaking her hip. My dad (S.E. Kidd, Jr.) said that in those days they put patients with a broken hip in a full body cast, and kept them in the hospital for weeks. She died a week or so after her fall.

Her obituary appeared on the front page of the Southern Advocate (a weekly paper published in Ashland, MS) on July 4, 1929:
