Born August 16, 1923 at Johnsons Mill, Morgan County, she was the daughter of the late William Goff and Mary Elizabeth Michael Everett.
She was a member of Berkeley Springs Church of Christ.
She was a graduate of Berkeley Springs High School.
She had worked as a looper at the Interwoven Hosiery Mill in Berkeley Springs, and at Little Miss and Duckwall-Johnson Canning Factories.
She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Berkeley Springs Volunteer Fire Company, the Ladies Auxiliary of Alderton-Dawson American Legion Post #60 and the Ladies Auxiliary of Morgan County Rescue Service.
She liked yard work, flower gardens and had been a homemaker in recent years.
She is survived by two daughters, Cheryl D. Durkin, Mt. Pleasant, S.C. and Donna K. Koper, Martinsburg; one sister, Betty Gene Stotler, Berkeley Springs; one grandson, Michael J. Gregory, Charleston, N.C. and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Alva "Junior" Payne on September 18, 1996; two sisters, Jessie Pearl Barney and Emily Louise Everett and three brothers, George Herman Everett, William Roscoe Everett and Charles Dayton Everett.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 19 at Berkeley Springs Church of Christ, 509 S. Green Street, Berkeley Springs with Evangelist Douglas Petty officiating. Interment will be at Spohrs Crossroads Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, June 18 and Saturday, June 19, 10-11 a.m. at the Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs.
