Daniel was the son of Charles Wood Elliott and Mary Martha Gary. He had two brothers and two sisters. He served in the medical department in WWI and married Carmel Eddie Farley (daughter of Charter Milan Farley and Ella Mae Smith) on 15 MAR 1919 in FT. WORH, TARRANT CO., TX. They had 4 sons:

Daniel married a second time to a lady named Ethel.
