He was born in Utica, May 4, 1895, the son of John B. and Anna Goppert Witte. He attended St. Joseph School and the Assumption Academy. In St. Joseph's Church, Utica, in 1920, he married the former Mary Cornelia Hubbard. Mrs. Witte died in 1977. In 1959, he retired from the J. B. Witte & Sons Plumbing Co., and moved to Orlando that same year. Mr. Witte was a WW I Army Veteran and an honorary life member of the William E. Burke Utica Council 189 Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by a brother and two sisters-in-law, Joseph A. and Bertha Witte, Sr. and Mrs. Charles (Nora) Witte, all of Utica; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
The funeral will be Thursday morning at 10 o'clock at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St. and 10:30 at St. Joseph-St. Patrick's Church. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours at the Funeral Home are Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9. Members of the Knights of Columbus will meet at the Funeral Home Wednesday evening at 7:30.
