Irene Virginia Falkner Jentzsch, 83, passed away Feb. 20, 2010, at her home in Idaho Falls.

Irene was born Jan. 3, 1927, in Salt Lake City, to Emil "Elmer" Falkner and Virginia Wetzel Falkner. She was raised in the Salt Lake City area and graduated from South High School in Salt Lake City.

Irene married Francis Laverne Jentzsch on June 6, 1945, in Salt Lake City. He died in 1996. She was a mother and a homemaker.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Irene helped get the Denver LDS Temple ready to open and worked in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple in her later years. She served in the Primary and Young Women's organizations and also at Girl's Camp. Irene enjoyed sewing, camping and her dogs. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Irene is survived by her children, Harley Kent (Judy) Jentzsch of Hyde Park, Utah, Penny Irene (C. Paul) Brizzee of Idaho Falls, Kevin Reed (Pat) Jentzsch of Denver and Kale Alan (Ginger) Jentzsch of Golden, Colo.; 27 grandchildren; and 55 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Eddie Falkner, Cliff Falkner, Howard Falkner and Ken Falkner; and a grandson, Bjorn Jentzsch.
