Grace Hortense Mainer, their first child, was born in Lovelady 16 July 1902. As a child and young girl, Grace confirmed her name as a beautiful, graceful, and lovely person. She was very popular and friendly. She began her schooling in Lovelady, and finished it in Waco High School. At the age of eighteen, she met and married Roy D. Baxter, a salesman, on 15 August 1920. They lived in Waco where their two daughters were born. Soon after the birth of her second child, Grace contracted diabetes, and suffered from that disease a number of years, and finally gave up the fight and died in a hotel in Mineral Wells, where she had gone for relief. She died on 18 June 1938. The children of Grace Mainer and Roy Baxter were Marguerite Joy Baxter, born December 5, 1926 at Waco, TX; and Dorothy Ann Baxter, born 31 October 1928 in Waco
