CHARLES HARPER BURIED HERE LAST SATURDAY

Charles Rutherford Harper, son of Hugh Walter and Anna Black Harper, was born in Corning, Iowa, January 1, 1877, and entered into rest at his home in Omaha, Nebraska, May 31, 1939, at the age of 62 years, 4 months and 30 days. He was married to Miss Margaret Gorsuch, March 25, 1897, and to this union were born four children: Aneita, Kenneth, Helen and Rhuie. He entered the U.S. Government mail service April 1, 1905, retiring in February, 1937, after 32 years of service. Postmaster Gen.Farley paid him a fitting tribute for his faithful and efficient service. Six years ago this month the family moved to Omaha where they have since resided. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, a brother, Frank and a sister, Mrs. Etta Thomas. He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Aneita Horton of Osceola, Iowa; Mrs. Helen Foster and Mrs. Rhuie Mezger of Omaha; and one son, Kenneth M. Harper of Inglewod, California; four grandchildren, Joyce and Richard Horton and Sally and Marceline Mezger; four sisters, Mrs. R.L. Brandon, Mrs. E. N. Foster, Miss Bertha Harper, all of Corning, Iowa, and Mrs. O.L. DeVore of Bozeman, Montana and a host of other relatives and friends. Services were conducted by the Rev. B. J. Brinkema at the Heaffy and Heaffy Funeral Hme in Omaha at 10 a.m. and at the Boyd Roland Funeral Home in Corning at 2 p.m. Saturday. Interment in Oak Hill Cemetery in Corning. The pall bearers all of Omaha were fellow workers in the mail service. There were many beautiful floral tributes which showed the high esteem, in which he was held.
Relatives from a distance attending the funeral were Kenneth M Harper, Inglewood, California; Mrs. O.L. DeVore. Bozeman, Montana; Mrs. Merle Knudson Bogart, Gardena, California; Vernon Thomas, Chicago, Illinois; other relatives from Massena, Des Moines and College Springs, Iowa, and friends from Omaha.
