He was born on April 20, 1937, in Washington and was a son of the late Edward Henry and Ethel Timbers Bailey.
Mr. Bailey was an Air Force veteran, having served during
the Korean War. He was a self-employed brick mason.
On April 27, 1957, he married the former Beatrice Hortense Tutt, who survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Sonja Y. Bailey of Luray; two sons, Robert H. Bailey Jr. and Lovell A. Bailey, both of Luray; four sisters, Marie Davis of Washington, Virginia Brown of Capitol Heights, Md., Jeannette Rawls of Youngstown, Pa., and Patricia Norwood of Washington and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Edward H. Bailey Jr.
A funeral was conducted on Saturday, Sept. 22, at the Bethel Baptist Church.
Burial was in the Hillside Cemetery in Luray with military honors by the VFW Comer-Jones Post 621.
