Gerald Francis German Sr., 75, of Olney, died at 4 p.m. , Saturday, November 30, 2002, at Richland Memorial Hospital.


There will be no visitation or services. The body is being cremated. Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney is in charge of arrangements.


Mr. German was born on May 11, 1927, in Williamsfield, the son of James H. and Lois (Caldwell) German.


He entered the U.S. Navy in 1945. At the end of his enlistment, he attended and graduated from

Western Illinois University at Macomb, graduating in 1951. He married Carrel Louise Ogle on June

29, 1952, in Augusta.


He was retired from the U.S. Air Force after having spent 20 years in the military. He became an Office Auditor for the Internal Revenue Service in Olney. He then retired from the I.R.S. and owned Gerald F. German Tax Service in Sumner until poor health forced him into retirement in 1992. He was a member of Williamsfield Methodist Church and American Legion Post #30.


He is survived by his wife, Carrel L. German of Olney; three sons, Gerald F. German Jr. and his wife, Barbara, of Tampa, Fla., Robert German of Olney, and Michael German and his wife, Kristine, of Olney; a sister, Gloria Johnson and husband, Lyle, of Williamsfield; two grandchildren, Misty German of St. Louis, Mo. and Amanda German of Tampa, Fla.; and one great-grandchild, Matthew Wayne Morey of

Tampa, Fla.


He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, James C. German.
