WATERLOO — Eugene C. Shatto, 75, of Waterloo died at 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 27, 2007, at his home.

He retired from Diversified Utility in Fort Wayne and Indiana Decorative in Waterloo. He enjoyed his family, leatherwork, fishing, playing the violin and guitar, traveling and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Mr. Shatto served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was born in Hudson on Dec. 25, 1931, to John C. and Mina V. (Hanes) Shatto.

Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Eugene and Kim Shatto, Albion, and DeWayne Shatto, Angola; two daughters and a son-in-law, Rosalynda Hasch, Angola, and Gloria and Gene Rowe, Pleasant Lake; 12 grandchildren, Nathan Shatto, Brandy and Luke Myers, Berlin Frederick and Elizabeth (Hunter) Hasch II, Rachael Hasch, Angel Hasch and Crystal Hasch, all of Angola, William (Corky) Rowe, Ashley, Thomas and Michelle Rowe, Hudson, Larry and Deb Rowe, Auburn, Josh and Sarah Forker, Avilla, Jessica Forker and Emilee Treesh, both of Auburn; a sister, Julia Swihart, LaGrange; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Guy and Ellsworth Shatto, a son-in-law, Berlin Frederick Hasch, a daughter-in-law, Rita Shatto, a sister-in-law, Margaret Taylor, and two brothers-in-law, Richard and Dean Holsinger.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Johnson Funeral Home, 612 N. Main St., Hudson, with Pastor Michael Dillon officiating.

Burial will be in Fairfield Cemetery with Orland American Legion Post 423 conducting military honors.

Pallbearers will be Dale Barkey, Bob and Norb Miller, Neil Ramey, Jim Dunn and Mike and Josh Rowe.

Calling will be Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
