Lee J Bassham was born on November 9, 1933, at Moko, Arkansas. He was the son of James Hamilton and Lennie Mae CARTER Basshan. Lee was the eighth child of the eleven children born to James and Lennie. Lee lived his early life in the Moko area until the war-time demand for labor on the West-coast caused the family to move to California. In the early 50's he returned to Moko only to later move to Flint, Michigan to seek employment with General Motors. He spent his working years in Flint at GM until his retirement. There was one hiatus in his career at GM when he was drafted by the US Army. After retirement from GM and before moving back to the Ozarks, Lee married Magdalene A. WEATHERFORD Anderson on October 27, 1984. The couple lived in Lanton, Missouri. Lee and Maggie were active in local community activities, AMSVET, and the Moko Church of Christ.
