Margaret C. (Doty) McHenry
Centenarian, Berwick school system custodian
Margaret C. (Doty) McHenry, formerly of Berwick, passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2011, at the Bradford County Manor in Troy, after being a patient for a week. She celebrated her 103rd birthday on Dec. 6, 2010.
She was a longtime employee of the Berwick school system and served as a custodian in several of the schools, ending her tenure at the High School.
To many of her friends she was "Peg", but to her family she was good old "Mom Mom." She was our energizer bunny and will be greatly missed.
Margaret was the wife of the late Arthur G. McHenry Sr. of Berwick. She was preceded in death by her eldest son, Arthur G. McHenry Jr.; her youngest son, Lowey E. McHenry; and sons-in-law: Bernard J. DePaul of Palm Bay, Fla.; and David Manning of Sayre; and her two sisters: Clara (Doty) Traugh of Berwick; and Irene (Doty) Kraus of Florida.
Surviving are her daughters: Nancy M. DePaul of Palm Bay, Fla.; and Helen I. Manning of Sayre; and a son: John D. McHenry and his wife, Karen (Ely) of York. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Marilyn (Wenzel) McHenry, of Harrisburg; her 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received Saturday, May 7, from 12:30-1 p.m. at the McMichael & Rairigh Funeral Home, 119-121 E. Third St., Berwick. Her funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Pastor John Hill of the Berwick Christian Church will officiate. Interment will be in the Rose Lawn Cemetery, Berwick.
In lieu of flowers, Margaret's family asks that memorial donations be made to: Guthrie Hospice RR 1 Box 154, Tomahawk Road, Towanda, PA 18848.
