Edwin R. Haynes, 82 of Bradleyville, died Friday, April 29, 2011 at the Select Specialty Hospital, Springfield. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM Monday in the Kissee-Schofield-Eakins Funeral Home. The funeral will be 2:00 PM Tuesday in the White River Association in Taneyville with Reverend Jack Clemans and R. J. Mendel officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will be in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, Branson.

Edwin Ray Haynes was born July 4, 1928 in Topeka, Kansas one of twelve children of Harry Frederick and Sylvia Ellen (Larkey) Haynes. The family moved throughout Kansas and Missouri. Edwin attended school in various locations. In 1945 he enlisted in the United States Navy and was stationed in San Diego, CA and Key West, Fl. He received training as a radio repairman and received a medical discharge in 1947 He moved to Kansas City, MO and worked for the city and sold real estate. He met Elizabeth Hankins. They were married December 18, 1965 in Kansas City, MO. They moved to Salinas, California in 1967. There he sold real estate and served as a housing contractor until they moved to Bradleyville in 1972. Edwin worked for the US Post Office in Springfield, MO and retired in 1991. He was also a cattle farmer in Bradleyville.

Edwin was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Postal Workers Union and a former Moose. He attended the General Baptist Church in Bradleyville. He was an avid reader of novels and newspapers and at all times was abreast of current events. His hobbies included collecting collectables, attending to his cattle and cooking. He was an easy-going, laid-back, very optimistic gentleman that never complained about anything or anyone.

He is preceded by his parents, first wife, six brothers and one sister.
