James V. ''J.V.'' Knight, 71, of 32-A Harry Smith Apartments, Owensboro, died Thursday, Aug. 6, 1992, at Riverside Manor Health Care Center in Calhoun. He was born in Daviess County; was a retired brick mason with L.A. Buford and Sons; was a member of St. Stephen Cathedral and American Legion Post No. 9; was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 696; and was an Army veteran of World War II. A daughter, Dorothy Elaine Belcher, died Oct. 2, 1987. Survivors include his wife, Mary Joe Ballard Knight; two sons, Delbert Durwood Knight of Owensboro and James Vernon Knight of Dallas; three daughters, Shelby June Keeny and Ann Bower, both of Owensboro, and Joetta Newton of Tell City, Ind.; eight grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; two brothers, Vernon Ray Knight and Stewart Knight, both of Owensboro; and two sisters, Barbara Jean Sosh and Corine Alvey, both of Owensboro.
Services are at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Stephen Cathedral. Burial in St. Raphael Cemetery, Daviess County, where full military honors will be conferred by a detachment from Fort Campbell. Visitation from 12:30 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Glenn Funeral Home, where prayers will be said at 5:30 p.m. Sunday.
