Her parents were, -Henry Livers and Elizabeth Brawner. After her father's death, her mother married Peter Boyle, November 24, 1809. Her maternal grandparents were Richard and Elizabeth (Elder) Brawner, the latter a daughter of William Elder. Elizabeth was mentioned in her mother's will ( APK:138 ), with sister Loretta Livers Martin and Sophia Livers Welty.

The Elder farm today is the main campus of Mount Saint Mary's College near Emmitsburg. The Livers plantation lay opposite the campus across U.S. Route 15.

Elizabeth was a Roman Catholic, her future husband was Mennonite. Two months before their marriage in January 8, 1821, Frederick county, MD. He converted to Catholicism by Father John DuBois, the founder of Mount Saint Mary's College, Emmitsburg, Frederick County, MD.

Her sister Mary Loretta Livers married her husband's brother John. They ultimately lived as neighbors on the farms, what was then Mooreville, near present day Indian Springs, Washington county, MD.

Children: (1) Erastus Martin, married Susanna Ida Miller and settled in Frederick county, MD. ; (2) Charles Constantine Martin, married Ann Elizabeth Hartman, removed to Blair county, PA.; (3) Catharine Elizabeth Martin, married Joseph Walton, (4) Mary Loretta Martin, married Captain Hugh Logan, Confederate States of America (5) Cecilia Ann Martin, married John Stoner; (6) Daniel Livers Martin, married Elizabeth Hanstein; (7) Rose "Roselia" Martin, married Andrew Jackson Shank, brother of John Shank; (8) Margaret Martin, married John Shank; (9) John Henry Martin, born March 3, 1839, never married, served in the Union Army during the Civil War, thought to have died in the Battle of Antietam and (10) Cristina Martin, married George Kreigh.
