He is listed along with his father and brothers as arriving in Texas aboard the Talisman on 02 January 1846. Sometime before 1848, he marries a woman named Susanna whose maiden name recorded in different sources as Bessmann or Ressmann. On 28 April 1852, he becomes a naturalized citizen of the United States. In the 1850 and 1860 census, Louis is shown as a farmer. In 1870, his occupation is "keeping bar" and in 1880, "keeps saloon". The 1880 census is the last one in which Louis appears. In 1920, wife Susanna is living with her son Max. Louis' exact date of death is unknown, but he is probably buried in Der Stadt Friedhof. There is grave that is only marked "Wahrmund" in that cemetery, which may be Louis.
