Alice J. Orshall, age 98, of Mount Horeb, died on Sunday, May 1, 2011, at Ingleside Nursing Home in Mount Horeb.
She was born June 15, 1912, in Cobb, Wis. to Adolph and Emma (Novak) Lucas. She graduated from Cobb High School in 1931. Graduated from Madison Academy of Cosmetology in 1936, and owned and operated her own beauty salon in Highland, for 16 years. Alice taught in a College of Cosmetology from November 1965 to May 1985. She retired from teaching due to loss of vision. She volunteered for the Retired Seniors Volunteers Program, (RSVP) since 1992. Alice was a member of Mount Horeb Evangelical Lutheran Church and of its WELCA.
Survivors include her sons, David (Charlotte) of Missouri, Harold of California, and Thomas of Mount Horeb; eight grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Carl (Marjorie) Lucas of Dodgeville; a sister-in-law, Lulu Lucas of Portage and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Elsie Lucas; four brothers, Glenn, Harry, Clarence and Earl Lucas; and her daughter-in-law, Rita Orshall.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2011, at MOUNT HOREB EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHAPEL, 315 E. Main Street, Mount Horeb, with the Rev. John Twiton officiating. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, May 6, 2011, at the ELLESTAD CAMACHO FUNERAL HOME, 500 N. 8th St., Mount Horeb.
