Died of Injuries Sustained in a Fall From Horse.
Prominent Timpas Resident Died Saturday

Benjamin F. Shannon of Timpas, died Saturday, from effects of injuries received the day previous. Mr. Shannon was riding a horse, which became unruly and threw him. He received injuries that caused his death. He was training a horse for a race at the time.

Mr Shannon is a well known resident in the Timpas district. He was born in Texola, Oklahoma Feb 8 1858 and was 75 years old at the time of death. He had been a resident of Timpas for 12 years. He is survived by his wife Ida Belle Adams Shannon and one son Perry Adams Shannon living at Timpas.
Deceased was a member of Euclid Lodge #64, A.F. and A.M. in La Junta. Arrangements have been made to hold funeral services from the school house in Timpas tomorrow afternoon at 4 o'clock and will be in charge of Rev. J.L. Weaver, pastor of the Rocky Ford Presbyterian Church. Members of the Masonic order in La Junta will attend in a body and will have charge of the services at the grave in Timpas cemetery.
