Mabel E. Gorman, 99, Brainerd, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby.
She was born March 27, 1902, in Cushing to Louis A. and Ella M. (Denison) Gorman. She graduated from high school and from Little Falls Business College. She worked in the Todd County and Crow Wing County recorder's offices as a secretary, abstractor/recorder and deputy registrar of deeds for a total of 55 years, serving from 1967 until her retirement in 1979 as the Crow Wing County recorder. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Brainerd, serving as Sunday school secretary for 25 years. She was a 25-year member of Martha Circle and taught Christian Endeavor for many years. She was a member of the Abstractors Association.
Survivors include three sisters, her twin, Myrtle Olson, Edina, Adeline Klabunde, Chandler, Ariz., and Violet Hancock, Brainerd; and a brother, Clarence Gorman, Brainerd.
Two brothers, Albert and Roy, and two sisters, Irene and Ida, died earlier.
Services were at First Presbyterian Church in Brainerd with Pastor Ralph Hegman officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery in Brainerd.
Arrangements were with Halvorson-Johnson Funeral Home in Brainerd.
