FORMER EASTON MAN KILLED
Robert J. Teel of Hazleton Run Down by Stripping Truck
Robert J. Teel, 48, of Hazleton, formerly of Easton, superintendent for the past two years at the Upper Lehigh Coal Company operations, was fatally injured when run down by a stripping truck of a contractor, on Wednesday afternoon while at work. He was given first aid treatment by a physician and was then removed to the Hazleton State Hospital, where he died at 7 o'clock in the evening from a puncture wound of the lung and internal injuries.

Mr. Teel, who was a mining engineer by profession, met with the accident in an unusual manner. He had been looking over the steam line in the engine house at the colliery and left to make a check on the colliery's coal production. Enroute he happened to walk into a cloud of steam issuing from the engine house and being enveloped in the vapor, he was unable to see the approaching truck, which struck him. The operator of the truck stated that he did not see Mr. Teel.

Mr. Teel was walking in an opposite direction to that being traveled by the truck and the machine, laden with coal, passed over him before it was brought to a stop.

Mr. Teel is survived by his widow, who before her marriage was Miss Florence Minnich of Hazleton, and three sisters, Rachel, Charlotte and Marjorie, of 295 Bates street, Phillipsburg.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Hazleton and formerly resided at Shenandoah and White Haven.

He was born in Easton and was a son of the late Reuben F. and Amanda Teel. The family lived at 325 Porter street, this city.
