Mrs. Eliza Poulan Sumner, pioneer resident of Worth County, GA died at the family home Saturday, October 11th, near Shingler, GA, She was born February 2, 1857, the daughter of W. W. And Mary Ann Chesnut Poulan. She lived nearly all her long and useful life in Worth County, GA. She became a member of Pucketts Methodist Church early in life, later moving her membership to Clements Chapel where it remained until the time of her death.

She married James B. Sumner January 4, 1877. He preceded her in death in 1886. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Mr. And Mrs. C. P. Sumner. Also four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Poulan Methodist Church with Rev. L. W. Walker of Poulan and Rev. J. Kell Hinson of Sycamore, officiating. Interment followed in Poulan Cemetery.

Pallbearers were A. L. Barbee, E. F. Snipes, James C. Sumner, W. L. Alford, G. E. Young and J. E. Tomberlin, Banks Funeral Home in charge.
