Tyre died Jan. 9, 2005, in Center. Born June 24, 1935, in Dallas County, he was the son of James E. Tyre Sr. and Bessie Tribble Johnston Tyre.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1954 to 1956. He was a retired truck driver.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Tyre of Center; daughter, Kathy Miller of Center; sons, Jack Tyre Sr. of Center and James D. Tyre Sr. of Carthage; sisters, Peggy Choate and Linda Stroope, both of Shelbyville; brother, Charles Tyre of Huxley; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
