A memorial service was held for David "Joe" Edwards, 94, of Roswell, NM at 11:00 am, Friday, May 6, 2011 at Miller Funeral Home in Sioux Falls, SD. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Sioux Falls, SD. He passed away Thursday, April 28, 2011 in Roswell, NM. Joe was born June 2, 1916 in Sioux Falls, SD to David Cleveland Edwards and Hattie McQuisten. He married Esther Andersen November 12, 1945 in Sioux Falls. He spent winters in Roswell since 1981, moving here five years ago from Sioux Falls. He was a volunteer at the hospital in Sioux Falls. He had a passion for golfing, and actively played until age 93. He loved to dance with the love of his life Esther, and did so weekly. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be missed by those he leaves behind. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife Esther Edwards; daughter Renee Edwards Swickard; grandson Derek Swickard and wife Amber, and granddaughter Meredith Swickard Laux and husband Gary; six grandchildren: Ceressa Swickard, Machala Swickard, Raquel Swickard, Taylor Laux, Teryn Laux, and Torrance Laux. He was preceded in death by his parents David and Hattie Edwards and a sister Buryl Jacobson. •
