Ulysses was the 18th child of Catherine Harker and Thomas Hall. He married Grace Campbell, Jan.14,1895.He started in 1882 at age 16 years as a gang-foreman for the Pennsylvania Railroad during which he met with an accident in 1888 and lost an arm and a foot. He died at age 59 of complications of poor health and for past six months was confined to his home most of the time.

He was survived by one brother and two sisters, Ruben Hall and Mrs. Katherine Banks of Entriken and Mrs Emmaline Shoup of Altoona and his wife, Mrs, Grace Elizabeth Campbell Hall of Newry.

He was active in civic matters in his adopted town of Newry. He was a member of the Lutheran Church and a teacher in Sunday school. He also served the bourough as a councilman and as a school director and was a member of the Railroad Relief association.
