Mrs. Upham Eastern Star Past Matron
Mrs. Kittle C. Upham, of 1 Allport Pl., died yesterday in Faxton Hospital after a brief illness.
Kittie C. Allport was the daughter of William R. and Jennie Spicer Allport. She was born in Paris and was educated in New Hartford.
In 1911 she was married to Herbert Upham. For several years she was employed by the New Hartford National Bank.
Mrs. Upham was Deputy Commissioner of Public Welfare in Oneida County, Old Age Assistance department, under Ward B. Edwards for several years, and Republican Committee woman for many years. She was a member of the New Hartford Presbyterian Church, a past matron of the, New Hartford Chapter, OES, a worthy scribe of White Shrine 10, and several other Eastern Star organizations. She,was also active in Red Cross work.
She leaves two daughters, Mrs. Albert Strafella, New Hartford and Mrs. Emerson I. Nelson, LaGrange Park, Ill.; a son, Charles Upham, New Hartford: a brother, Roselle Allport, Dallas, Texas; seven grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 2 Monday from the Stevens Funeral Home, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford, with the Rev. Paul Parks Walenta officiating. Burial will be in Green Lawn Cemetery. Utica OD, Saturday, Sept. 3, 1960
