In the civil war he enlisted in Co. B, First Battalion, Black River artillery, and later was transferred to Co. D, 10th New York artillery, from which he was honorably discharged, June 23, 1865. He was a faithful member of the First M. E. church. Surviving are his wife and three children, Ida, Mabel and Byron Fox; also three brothers, Ozias E., of Long Island, K. and H. S. Fox of Governeur.
