A funeral for Harold "Hal" C. Barnes of Mountain Home will be 2 p.m. Monday at Kirby-Boaz Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Barry Lynden officiating. Visitation will be from noon until service time Monday. Mr. Barnes died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2005, at his home. He was 88.

Hal was born Oct. 21, 1916, in Tacoma, Wash. to George Franklin and Caia Norman Barnes. He married Juanita "Nita" Dallas Philp Sept. 12, 1942, in Evanston, Ill. He was in sales and was a U.S. Army World War II veteran. Hal lived in Big Pine Key, Fla., until moving to Mountain Home in 1977. He had a master's degree from Stanford University and graduated magna cum laude. Hal was a member of the Word of Life Church.

He is survived by one son, James Alan (Karen) Barnes of Glen Ellyn, Ill.; two daughters, Sherri (Richard) High of Wichita, Kan., and Kandi (Steve) Roskam of Oak Park, Ill.; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; and one brother, Norman F. (Carolyn) Barnes of Queensbury, N.Y.

Burial will be in Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to The Salvation Army.
