Funeral services for Ernest were held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 with Rev. Connie Bongard officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Woodland Hospice.
Ernest was the son of Henry and Tina (VanderVeer) Wolters.
He married Betty Truax on August 23, 1947 in Gobles, Michigan. Ernest worked at Skel Gas of Mt. Pleasant as L.P. Gas Manager from 1956 to 1980 when he retired. In 1980 he started working as a Safety Consultant for Lupke-Rice Insurance Co. Ernest inspected gas plants in Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio and taught safety classes at Purdue University. Ernest volunteered as a fireman in Otsego, Clare, and Mt. Pleasant, starting in Mt. Pleasant in 1961 and served as a volunteer for more than 40 years.
He was active at First United Methodist Church and Saddlebag Community Church of Lake Wales, FL. Ernest was a former Kiwanis Club member and President of Michigan L.P. Gas Association.
Ernest is survived by his wife, Betty; children, Ernest Lynn (Valerie) Wolters and Linda (Rob) Louisell, both of Mt. Pleasant; 5 grandchildren, Tim Wolters, Chris (April) Wolters, Amy Wolters, Dave Louisell, and Dan (Liz) Louisell; 7 great-grandchildren; and sister, Flossie Wesler of Gobles.
Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers, and 4 sisters.
