RESIDENT OF DESERET DIES AFTER ILLNESS
Erastus Johnson died late on Saturday at the home of his son Edward Johnson following a long illness. Mr. Johnson was seventy-two years of age and had been suffering with cancer of the stomach. Funeral services were held in Deseret on Tuesday and interment was in the city cemetery there. Erastus Johnson was born July 31, 1862 in Logan, the son of Daniel and Katherine Jensen Johnson. In 1883 he was married to Ruth Pulsipher and four children were born to them. Mrs. Johnson died later and in 1908 Mr. Johnson come to Deseret with his four children and made it the family home from that time on. He was a carpenter by trade and at intervals had worked on the railroad. Mr. Johnson was esteemed by those who knew him and the sympathy of their friends is with the bereaved family. Mr. Johnson is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Jennie Roberts of Milford, three sons, William of St. Louis, MO, Edward and Gene of Deseret and eleven grandchildren.
