FUNERAL SERVICES FOR COLLIER VERNON BLACK

Very touching funeral services were held in the Fillmore Second Ward chapel Wednesday afternoon for Vernon Black, aged 34 years, whose untimely death occurred last Saturday evening. The services were under the direction of Bishop Henry E. Hatton. The invocation was offered by Bishop P. Lorenzo Brunson. The speakers were President Arthur C. Brown, Edward L. Black of Kanosh, and William D. Melville. Mrs. Edna L. Day and Mr Vernon Peterson sang a duet, and the Ward Choir sang several appropriate numbers. The benediction was offered by Bishop Hatton.

The deceased is survived by his wife, Norma Maycock Black, three children by a former marriage, and two step-children. All of the children are young, ranging from about 8 to 12 years of age. Mr. Black's children are Faye, Mary and Robert, and Mrs. Black's are Darlene, and Bobbie. The sympathy of the entire community goes out to this young mother and these small children.

Mr. Black is also survived by the following brothers and sisters: Dr. B. W. Black of Berkeley, Calif.; Dr. Joel R. Black of San Francisco, California, D. W. Black of Denver, Colorado; Mrs. Clo Hilton of Hinckley, Miss Joy Black of Salt Lake City, Mrs. Loa Hanson, Mrs. Ora Hanson, Mrs. Fern Starley and Mr. Willis Black, all of Fillmore.

The out of town people here to attend the funeral included Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Black of Delta, Mrs. Dee Black and Mrs. Wm R. Black of Deseret, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Hilton, Mr. Verl Hilton, and Mrs. Lowell Bennett of Hinckley; Miss Joy Black of Salt Lake City, and Mr. and Mrs. Noah Stowe of Hatton. His brothers from out of town were unable to be here, but all plan on coming here to visit the family fore part of October.
