He is preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers and 4 sisters. Survived by wife, Ramona, sister Vedna; sons David (Kathy) and Ron; daughters Nancy (Ed) Fuentes and Barbara (David) Dean; six grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Harold retired as a cement mason in 1986. He spent his retirement visiting family and friends and tending to his bountiful garden.
Interment at Fort Snelling with full military honors was held January 22, 2010.
Harold loved his family and spent many hours camping, fishing, and enjoying the outdoors. Harold and his family held a special spot in their lives for his older brother Vernon and family. The two families grew in life together, especially after Harold returned from 10 years living in Alaska in the 1950's. He and his brother Vernon were inducted together into the military during World War II and both served honorably. Upon discharge and after getting married Harold and Vernon looked for work in Oregon. Harold's eldest two children were born in Oregon prior to his return to Minnesota. In 1952 Harold took his family to Alaska and worked in cement construction. In 1962 the family returned to Minnesota and began farming in the Deer Creek area. After his children graduated from high school Harold and Mona moved to the Twin Cities area. There he spent his remaining days on earth. Harold will always be remembered as a soft spoken man and he will be greatly missed by his entire extended family.
