Mildred Poole Mayhew, 83, of Mooresville died Sunday Jan. 25, 2004 at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center. Born Dec. 3, 1920 in Mooresville to the late James Albert and Etta Jane Christie Poole, Mrs. Mayhew was a homemaker. A graduate of Cornelius High School, she was a member of First Baptist Church where she attended the Fidelis Sunday School Class. She was a volunteer for the Red Cross Blood Mobile, worked at the voting polls, was a part-time employee of American Greeting Cards and was active in the Mooresville Woman’s Club.

Mrs. Mayhew was married to H.T. Mayhew, who preceded her in death. A daughter, Kay Mayhew, brothers, Harold, Chester and James Poole and sister, Sue McElveen, also preceded her in death.

Survivors are daughters, Sandra Mayhew and Janet Read both of Mooresville; sister, Aileen Nobles of Vidalia, Ga.; brother, Harvey Poole of Charlotte; three step-grandchildren, five step-greatgrandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 29 at First Baptist Church with Dr. E. Harvey Rogers and Rev. Mark Pitts officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends today, from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28 at CavinCook Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Youth Mission Program or to First Baptist Church, Homebound Ministries, 150 S. Church Street, Mooresville, NC 28115.
