She and August Schmidt were married less than a month later in a double ceremony at West Point, Nebraska with Amelia Brummond and William Buchholz on September 16, 1875. August and Ida had two children that lived. Otto and Marie Schmidt. After Ida's death August married Matilda Peger in 1884.
