He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Gloria R. Durrance, his son and daughter in law, Kelly and Elizabeth, and the light of his life, four grand daughters, Erica, Rebecca, Shelby and Caroline, who brought him untold pleasure. Three sisters also survive, Faye Shackelford, Noveta Beeson and Jean Hancock, and an uncle, Elmo Roberts, numerous nieces and nephews lives were enriched by his example.
Willard was a successful citrus grower, rancher, watermelon farmer and pricipal in D & S Cattle Company. He was past president of Hardee County Cattleman's Association.
He was for many years a member of New Hope Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, teacher and choir member.
Funeral services will be held to honor his memory at New Hope Baptist Church, Wauchula on Sunday, May 1, 2011 at 3:00PM. Willard's nephew, Marcus Shackelford, will conduct the service assisted by his Pastor Chris Bishop. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to New Hope Baptist Church, 1999 State Rd. 64 East, Wauchula, FL. 33873, designated for renovation of the recreation complex.
