ESTHER POCH CARRICO

Born in Yorktown, Texas August 29, 1907. Finished high-school in Belleville, Texas. B.S. degree from the University of Texas at Austin. Obtained a superintendent and principal certificate from Texas State Department of Education. Mrs. Carrico did graduate work at both Columbia University in New York, and the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado.

Mrs. Carrico taught school at Pflugerville, Texas for 3 years. She then served in the El Campo Public School System for 15 years from 1929-1944 as a teacher, elementary principal and superintendent for 2 years. Mrs. Carrico was married to former El Campo school superintendent, J. E. Carrico. In 1945 she founded the Isaacson-Carrico Company in El Campo which specializes in manufacturing girls underwear.

Mrs. Carrico was a charter member of Christ Lutheran Church in El Campo, Texas. She also was a member of various civic organizations; serving the community she loved. Board of authority of El Campo Memorial Hospital, Member of Board of Directors of the El Campo Housing Authority, El Campo Museum, United Fund Board and was a member of the Committee creating the charter for the City of El Campo. In 1978, Mrs. Carrico started sponsoring an annual spelling contest for students grades 2 through 7 in El Campo.

Survivors: nieces, Adele Morgan and Martha Lindeman, both of Dallas, Carle Heinsohn of Rockport, Marian Knight of Humble, Paula Pfeifer of Karnes City and Ruth Anderson of Houston; and nephew, Hubert Menn, Jr. of Austin.

Preceded in death by: her parents, Rev. Joseph Karl and Louise Schulle Poch; husband, John E. Carrico; sister, Mrs. H.L. Menn; brothers, Alfred Poch, John Poch, Paulus Poch and J. K. Poch, Jr.; nieces, LaRue Cook and Marion Bell; and nephew, Joe K. Menn.

Family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. tonight.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, at Christ Lutheran Church with Pastor Art Weiss and Pastor Bill Waxenberg from Christ Lutheran Church in Dallas officiating.

Interment will be at Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Memorials May be given to Christ Lutheran Church.
