Dayton Prater of Pana, died 2:50 a.m. Saturday (Sept 10, 1977) in Pana Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church, Pana. Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday in McCracken Funeral Home, Pana. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Cowden.
Mr Prater was born in Edinburg, son of Thomas B and Hester A Prater. He was a butter maker at Equity Creamery, Pana, for 25 years and was a maintenance man at Pana Community Schools and First Baptist Church. He married Daisy Smith in 1914.
Surviving are his wife; sons, Charles R of Marion; John D of Pana; daughters, mrs Dan (Alice) Murray and Mary M Prater, both of Pana; brothers, (Dr.) Arizona of St Petersburg, Fla; Gordon of Cowden; sisters, Mrs L H (Verna) Phillips and Mrs Cal (Lila) Dunaway, both of Cowden; two grandchildren. One son, two brothers, two sisters and a grandson preceded him in death.
