Oscar N. Norris died Thursday, April 12, at his home in Monroe township, after an illness fo a few days' duration from pneumonia. Mr. Norris, who was 68 years of age, was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Norris, and was born on the old Norris farm in Douglas township. He was married to Rosa Ruth, on October 27th, 1904. She and three children, Zella, Erma and Dale survive him.

When a young man, Mr. Norris united with the Fairview Methodist church, and in later years attended the Friends church in Earlham and the New Hope church at Ord. The deceased was the eldest of a family of eight children, and leaves besides his wife and children, two brothers and five sisters: Mrs. J. H. Evans, of Thedford, Nebraska; Mrs. Kate Griffith, of Winterset; Frank Norris, of Thayer; Jud and Ella Norris, of Eldred, Minnesota; Mrs. L. R. Moore, of Indianola, and Mrs. W. F. Gentry, of Norwalk.

Rev. Rev. E. F. Thompson, of Lorimor, conducted the funeral services at the Ord church, Sunday afternoon, April 15, assisted by the Rev. Paul Fowler, and burial was made in the Bennett cemetery, north of Winterset.

Oscar Norris, son of Alfred and Mary Norris, was born November 25, 1859, on the old Norris farm in Douglas township, Madison county, Iowa.

He was united in marriage to Rosa Ruth, on October 27, 1904. To this union were born three children, two daughters, Zela and Erma, and one son, Dale, all at home.

When a young man he united with the Fairview M. E. church and in later years attended the Friends church in Earlham, and the New Hope church at Ord. After a brief illness he passed away April 12, 1928, at the age of 68 years, 4 months and 18 days. He was a kind husband and loving father and will be greatly missed by family, relatives and friends.

He was the eldest of a family of eight and leaves besides his wife and children, two brothers and five sisters: Mrs. J. H. Evans, of Thadford, Nebraska; Mrs. Kate Griffith, of Winterset; Frank Norris, of Thayer; Jud and Ella Norris, of Eldred, Minnesota; Mrs. L. R. Moore, of Indianola, and Mrs. W. F. Gentry, of Norwalk.
