Pedestrian struck, killed
A pedestrian was killed in an accident this weekend on Cerrillos Road, said Santa Fe police.
The victim, Joseph Glen Beach, 52, of Bountiful, Utah, was struck by a car as he was crossing the road in front of the Ramada Inn at about 2 a.m., Sunday.
Police said witnesses told officers that a car driven by Jodeane R Sisneros, 19, 122 Duran St., was traveling west on Cerrillos Rd. approaching Calle la Resulana. Beach crossed the road from the north to the south in front of the car, and the woman tried to avoid the pedestrian, but couldn’t, police said.
Beach, a horse trainer, was thrown over the Sisneros auto and landed on the inside lane, where he was struck by a car driven by Jimmie L Velarde, 35, 622 Franklin St. The Velarde auto dragged Beach about 80 feet before it could stop.
