In 1910, Peñasco; Gregorio was enumerated with his parents Benito & Cecilia Chacón; and siblings: Virginia, Pifanio, Marcos, and María D. Chacon (1910 Census).

On 5 June 1917, Taos County; Gregorio Chacón (B: 2 Dec 1893, Peñasco) registered for the World War I draft. He was described as married, tall, stout, black eyes, black hair, and a farmer (draft card).

On 2 Sep 1918, Peñasco; Gregorio Chacon (B: 19 Nov 1893, Peñasco), a resident of Peñasco, was inducted into the US Army. He was recorded as registering for the draft on 5 June 1917 in Peñasco. Also that he was a lumberjack at La Madera. He was assigned to the Infantry. His parents were recorded as Benito Chacón and Cisilia B. Chacón. It was recorded that he was widowed from Carlota V. Chacón (wed: 31 July 1916) and had a son Antonio Chacón (B: ~1916). On 22 Dec 1918, Camp Travis, San Antonio, Texas; Gregorio was discharged as a Corporal (NM WWI Records).
