Death Summons Frank Kober Here Tuesday
Business Man, Former Mayor, Passed Away After Illness of a Year
Frank Kober, 74, prominent business man and realtor in La Porte City and community, passed away at his home on Locust St. Tuesday morning at two o’clock after being ill for the past year.
The cause of the death was due to a heart ailment.
F.W. Kober, son of C.G. and Carolyn Kober, was born on a farm west of town April 2, 1876.
On Jan. 1, 1901 he was united in marriage to Allie Ballheim, who died July 11, 1925. To this union was born three children, Merlin of Belle Fourche, S.D., Kermit, of Torrington, Wyo. and Coyla, deceased Feb. 3, 1923.
In November, 1936, he was united in marriage to Stella Hackett of La Porte City.
Mayor for 10 Years
Mr. Kober served at mayor for 10 years and as councilman and a member of the school board several different terms.
He has been a life long member of the E.U.B. church, for which he served in many offices with credit and distinction.
From 1901 to 1916 he owned and operated a clothing business. Since then his time has been spent in real estate and insurance.
Surviving besides his two sons are his wife; five grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. E.L. Pfalzgraf, Glendale, Calif. and seven brothers, Edward, George, Wesley, Jesse and Arthur of here and Harry and Ezra of Waterloo.
Others who preceded him are his parents and two sisters, Rebecca and Nettie.
Services Friday
Funeral services will be at two o’clock Friday afternoon in the E.U.B. church with Rev. M.E. Shank on charge, assisted by Rev. E.R. McClelland.
Burial will be in West View cemetery.
The body will be at the Johannsen funeral home until 12:45 p.m. Friday.
Business houses will be closed from two until three o’clock during the services.
