He was born January 21, 1926 in Winona to Charles and Anna (Procowitz) Fischer. He graduated from Winona Cotter in 1943. He married Lois Drexel on November 23, 1946 in Winona. He was the co-owner of Winona Metal Products for many years. They moved to Red Wing in 1968 when they purchased F & D Supply until 1991 when they sold it to their daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Todd Goodier. They also owned U-Pick Strawberry Patch in Red Wing. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and past member of the Winona Redman's Cub and was active in Boy Scout troops. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Lois of Red Wing; three sons Michael (Cavie), Thomas (Dawn), and Charles (Lynn) Fischer all of Red Wing; daughter Peggy (Todd) Goodier of Red Wing; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Marian Thiewes of Belle Plain, Betty Klopatek and Elayne Fischer both of Tamarac, Fl; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Anna Fischer; brother, Carl Fischer; sister, Gertrude Fischer, and grandson, David Fischer.
Mass of Resurrection will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 4 at the Church of St. Joseph with Father Thomas Kommers presiding. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 3 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel in Red Wing and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the Church of St. Joseph.
