Sarah F. Bruner was married to ALEXANDER P BROWN, June 30th, 1852 in Vermillion Co.IN. by William S. Melton, a circuit riding Methodist E.C. minister. Two daughters, MELISSA and ELIZABETH were born in IN. In 1857 she left all that was familiar and moved to the new frontier in Miami Co, Osage Twp., KS. SARAH F. and ALEXANDER were one of the earliest settlers in Miami County, arriving in 1857, according to Cuttler's Kansas History. They arrived to claim their homestead.
Three more children were born, MARY, GEORGE L. and JESSIE L. Brown. SARAH was a very busy farm wife and mother, but about 1870 she opened her home to her father inlaw, JOHN BROWN and her brother in-law ANDREW BROWN. ANDREW left later on and moved to Woodston, Rooks Co., KS.
