Died at New Diggins, Wisconsin, on Sept.3.
Dr. Benjamin P. Crossman, of Congestive fever. Born in Oneida Co. New York, but had been a practicing physician in this part of the country for some fifteen years.
On the conclusion of his medical studies in New York, he wished to visit France and England, and being poor, he shipped as a common sailor for his passage. He studied for some time in Paris and afterward visited England.
At the time of his death, he was a prominent candidate to form a constitution for Wisconsin.
Beloved son of Nathaniel and Marcia(Pratt)Crossman; brother of Marcy(Crossman)Wilmarth; Uncle of Philip Mason Wilmarth. Buried with the Philip M. Wilmarth family.
