MARIA LAVORATO of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Armando Lavorato, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 22, 2011 at the age of 78 years. Maria was born on August 12, 1932 to Salvatore and Emilia Marrazzo in Piane Crati, Italy. She married Armando in 1952, following him to Canada in 1953 where they started their lives working hard and raising a family. After Armando passed away, Maria proved to be a quiet but strong and independent women carrying on the family traditions. Maria was happiest with her home filled with family and friends enjoying her specialty dishes which she so lovingly prepared. Besides her love of baking and cooking, Maria kept herself busy tending her garden and greenhouse, sharing her plants and vegetables with family and friends. She also loved to knit and crochet, making afghans for all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Maria was a long time member of St. Basil's Parish and the Italian Canadian Club. Maria will always be remembered and cherished for her unconditional friendship and support. She never asked anything of anyone but was always there for everyone…
Maria is survived by her daughter, Joyce Dodson, 3 sons: Lou (Judy) Lavorato, Piero (Leila) Lavorato, John (Tracy) Lavorato, grandchildren: David Lavorato, Joey (Kadi) Lavorato, Aaron (Tara) Lavorato, Logan (Stacey) Lavorato, Carmin (Travis) Hall, Adam Dodson, Amanda Lavorato, Cameron Lavorato, Riley Lavorato and great grandchildren: Ryder Hall, Gianna Hall and Cole Lavorato, 3 sisters: Rita, Carmelina, Anna and 1 brother Maurizzio, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
Besides her loving husband, Armando, Maria was predeceased by her parents, Salvatore and Emilia, sister Dora and grandson, Kevin.
Vigil Rites (Prayers) will be held at 7:00PM, on Tuesday April 26, 2011, at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 — 4 Street South, Lethridge, Alberta.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00AM., on Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at ST. BASIL'S ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH at 604 — 13 Street North Lethbridge, with Father John Kohler celebrant. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.
