Aunt Kate is the eighth child of nine children all born to Sebastian John & Elizabeth (Vogel) Peter, all in St. Louis, Missouri. Aunt Kate married Joseph Edward Nienhaus on 28 Jul 1928 in St. Louis, Missouri. They have five children, four are deceased.

These are some of my memories of Uncle Joe & Aunt Kate. Technicaly they are my Grand-Aunt & Grand-Uncle. Because Aunt Kate's sister Margaret is my grandmother, garmdmother-grandaunt. Get it? Uncle Joe smoked cigars & had a deep voice. I always saw him in his chair reading the newspaper & smoking one of his cigars. It never fails when I can smell a cigar around me it brings back those memories. Aunt Kate helped me do my first sewing project. An apron for myself to complete a Girl Scout badge. She gave me a gift of a small doll dress for my doll. She put my name on it in a pink heart. I still have that dress & plan to hand it down within the family. I remember that at one time they lived up near the Pink-Sisters near O'Fallon Park. It is a Cloistered Convent & Chapel in St. Louis. I would bike up to visit the church. It is a very beautiful building, and the peaceful feeling was overwhelming sometimes. Then I would stop off at their house & visit for awhile.
