John William Ansley
John William (Dub) Ansley, 56, of R-1 Singleton Road, Eastanollee, died Wednesday night, May 7, in Stephens County Hospital after a short illness.
He was born April 18, 1924, in Stephens County, a son of Mrs. Emmie Ward Ansley of Toccoa and the late Powell Ansley, and had lived all his life in Stephens County.
He was a member of Zebulon Baptist Church and was employed by Tugalo Gas Company for 20 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4346.
Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife, Mrs. Freddie Randall Ansley of the home; one son, Stanley Ansley of the home; one sister, Mrs. Brown Collins of Eastanollee; four brothers, Wendell Ansley and Ed Ansley, both of Toccoa, Ray Ansley of Lavonia and the Rev. Ted Ansley of Mt. Airy; mother-in-law, Mrs. Fred Randall of Toccoa, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral was at 3 p.m. Saturday from the chapel of Whitlock Mortuary with the Rev. Wade Lord, the Rev. Ted Ansley and the Rev. Jack Wilson officiating. Burial was in Stephens Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Edward Gilmer, George Roberts, Wayland Randall, Weldon Johnson, Stewart Price and Larry Ansley.
Ambulance service employees and Tugalo Gas Company were honorary escort.
Whitlock Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
