Mayme L. Downing, 70, of 722 Secons ave., Marion passed away at 1:04 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 10 in a Cedar Rapids hospital. She was born the daughter of C.F. and Dora Stuart Race on Feb. 5, 1902 at Vinton. On July 24, 1918 at Vinton she was married to James B. Downing. Mr. Downing passed away on May 16, 1966. Mrs. Downing moved to Cedar Rapids in 1927, and has been a resident of Marion since 1938. She was a member of the Marion Christian church.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Doris) Noe of Vinton, and Mrs. Albert (Margaret) Suck of Marion, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Walter (Della) LaHue of Vinton. She was preceded in death by a son Curtis, and three sisters and two brothers.
Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13 at the Murdoch chapel in Marion, conducted by the Rev. Peter Morgan. Interment was in Oak Shade cemetery.
