My dad remembers his baby brother as a big, happy baby who was always smiling; Tommy took sick quickly and spent several weeks in the hospital before he died. Grandmother was with him all the time.
Tommy was survived by his parents, two brothers, Max and Donald, seven sisters, Evelyn, Doris, Frances, Helen, Marie, Barbara, and Mary June, paternal grandmother, Malissia Metcalf Buckner; maternal grandparents, Jim & Hester Rice Burrell; and maternal great-grandmother, Margaret Messer Hensley.
Tommy’s funeral was held on New Years Day, Friday, January 1, 1943, graveside at Locust Grove Baptist Church; services were conducted by Rev. Guy West and Rev. Vaughn Fisher.
Pallbearers: Gene Capps, Gene Harron, Carol Roberts, and Wilfred Black.
Flowerbearers: June Capps, Hilda Burrell, and Billie Burrell.
If anyone has a photo of him, please post. We only have a gravesite photo of him before his casket was closed.
